Adapting cities for climate resilience is crucial as climate change increases the frequency and severity of extreme weather events. This study outlines a comprehensive set of resilience strategies aimed at enhancing urban resilience across four key domains: water, food, shelter, and energy. These strategies, applicable to both new and existing neighborhoo ...

Chromium, being among the most toxic heavy metals, continues to demand immediate attention in the remediation of Cr-contaminated environments. In this study, a strain of LBA36 (Bacillus toyonensis) was isolated from heavy metal contaminated soil in Luanchuan County, Luoyang City, China. The reduction and adsorption rates of LBA36 in 30 mg·L-1 Cr-containin ...

The self-assembly of CsPbCl3 perovskite nanocrystals and their Mn2+-enriched analogs into supercrystals is reported. Increasing Mn2+ content in the nanocrystals leads to formation of larger, increasingly uniform cubic supercrystals that eventually become rod-like with higher photoluminescence quantum yields.

ackground/Objectives: Physical activity is an important protective factor throughout life. However, little research has observed the associations between the practice of physical activity and academic success longitudinally, and none have done so with a pan-Canadian sample. This article aims to examine the prospective associations between active leisure i ...

Sigma-1R (S1R) is a ubiquitously distributed protein highly expressed in the brain and liver. It acts as a ligand-inducible chaperone protein localized at the endoplasmic reticulum. S1R participates in several signaling pathways that oversee diverse cellular and neurological functions, such as calcium and proteome homeostasis, neuronal activity, memory, a ...

A novel functional nanomaterial composed of guanosine monophosphate (GMP) and Fe enhanced denitrification efficiency by regulating electron transfer and microbial community. Fe/GMP enhanced nitrate (NO3-) degradation rates by 3.00-fold in serum vial batch experiments, with a rate constant of 17.39 mg/(L·h) in sequencing batch reactor. Fe/GMP-mediated inte ...

Theoretical work suggests that reinforcement can cause the strengthening of prezygotic isolation in sympatry by mitigating the costs of maladaptive hybridization. However, only a handful of studies have simultaneously tested multiple predictions of this theory in natural populations. We investiga ...

Transport proteins play a crucial role in cellular metabolism and are central to many aspects of molecular biology and medicine. Determining the function of transport proteins experimentally is challenging, as they become unstable when isolated from cell membranes. Machine learning-based predictions could provide an efficient alternative. However, existin ...
